Licensed Salespersons and Brokers are required to complete a set amount of Continuing Education curricula, as
approved by FREC and the DBPR before they are eligible to renew their licenses. The license renewal deadline
occurs twice a year, September 30th and March 31st; all credits and (payment) need to be submitted to the
DBPR before the deadline in order for a licensee to be eligible for renewal. The expiry date of a license is
printed on the license itself and can also be checked at www.MyFloridaLicense.com.
✓ The three most common scenarios are as follows:
1. Newly licensed Salespersons – within their first licensure period, new licensees must complete the 45hr
Salesperson Post-license course. They may take this course online via The CE Shop.
(http://rapb.theceshop.com) or they can attend a 45-hour Salesperson Post-License class at any FREC-approved real Estate school (our members receive a discount at our local partner, Gold Coast RE School).
The only other option Realtors® has to complete this requirement is to complete the entire successfully
GRI 100 Series, which consists of three 2-day modules, each approved for 15hrs of Salesperson PostLicense credit. We offer these classes frequently, and they are all available online (VanED). (Modules 101
+ 102 + 103 = GRI 100 Series = 45HR Post) **Highly recommended!
2. Newly licensed Brokers - within their first licensure period, new Brokers must complete the 60hr Broker
Post-license course. They may take this course online via The CE Shop (http://rapb.theceshop.com) or
they can attend Broker Post-license classes at any FREC-approved Real Estate school (our members receive a discount at our local partners Gold Coast RE School). The only other option Realtors® has to complete this requirement is to complete both the GRI 200 and 300 series, each consisting of two 2-day modules approved for 15hrs of Broker Post-License credit. We offer these series frequently and are also available online (VanED). (Modules 201 + 202 + 301 + 302 = GRI 200 & GRI 300 Series = 60HR Broker Post) **Highly recommended!
3.The “regular” 14-hour license renewal—Once the licensee has completed their first renewal, they are required to complete only 14 hours of continuing education curricula for their subsequent license renewals (2-year cycles). The renewal will require three mandatory Core Law credits, three mandatory Ethics and Business Practices credits, and eight specialty credits. (The 3CE Ethics course also satisfies the Realtor member requirement.)
Licensees may take this course online via The CE Shop (http://rapb.theceshop.com) or attend the live 14-hour Core Law classes at any of our locations. These classes are scheduled in the Spring and Fall in preparation for the two annual deadlines. (They are usually held two months before the license expiration deadline.) Please note: We are unable to grant extensions to individuals for the 14-hour continuing education requirement. Only the DBPR/FREC can grant extensions.
• Members may also accumulate specialty credits throughout their licensure period, totaling or exceeding their requirements; in this case, the member would only need the 3CE of Core Law and the 3CE of Business Ethics, in which case they may complete the online or attend Association-offered classes to fulfill these requirements.
